The number of uses has increased steadily over the years. Besides weapons of mass destruction here are a few of the common uses for nuclear technology: agricultural, power, medicinal, space programs, physical and chemical science. Unfortunately, there have been no new nuclear power plants built in the United States since the Three Mile Island incident in the 1970’s.
Additionally, there is the problem of what to do with the nuclear waste by-products. These by products or "Nuclear Waste" have been proven to be carcinogenic, and if disposed of improperly can taint water supplies, fertile soil, and our oceans.
